I heard my hair will grow back thicker and darker after waxing?
No way! Waxing thins the hair; it also damages the follicle making less hair grow back each time. You will notice softer, finer hair with regular waxing.
If I am taking medication is waxing a good choice for me?
That depends on the type. There are many medications that increase the sensitivity of your skin. If you are using Retin-A, Renova or Accutane, we don’t recommend waxing your brows or face at this time for you. Please let your esthetician know before you begin your service if you are on any medications or have had any skin care services that may interfere with your waxing. A few other brands to be aware of, as the product may lessen skins integrity: Adapalene, Avage, Avita, Differin, Proactiv, Strivectin or Tazorac. We value the health of you and abide by this for the safety of your skin.
Can I go tanning before or after a wax?
We would ask that you don’t 24 hours before or after waxing. It’s too sensitive either way. Now if it is an airbrush tan, go for it….but wait a day after the wax!
Can I get waxed if I am pregnant?
Absolutely. However, being pregnant will leave you more sensitive during and after your wax. If you have any concerns please clear this with your doctor.
I get bumps on my skin after waxing/shaving, sometimes they are painful. What are these?
Ingrown hairs. This happens because the hairs are too thin and cannot push through the skin resulting in inflammation. They can often be painful. Don’t pick, as this could lead to infection. You can help to prevent these by exfoliating using a loofah, exfoliating scrub, or exfoliating glove 3 days after waxing and then thereafter. Avoid standing water (baths, swimming pools, hot tubs) for at least 24 hours after your wax. Keep the area that was waxed clean to aid in minimizing ingrown hairs.
I am on my period, can I still get waxed?
Yes you can. Just know that you will be more sensitive during this time. 4 days before cycle and 4 days after cycle you may experience an increased sensitivity as well. Please arrive squeaky clean and with a new tampon at time of service.
I have never been waxed but want to get a Brazilian before a big trip or event. Can I get waxed a few days before we leave?
We are so happy you want to jump on board with waxing! However, If you have never waxed before or maybe you’ve not been on board with waxing recently and have a big event coming up, such as your honeymoon, a vacation with your partner, etc., we would not recommend getting your first ever wax a couple of days before you go. It is better to try to get in at least two (2) waxes before you leave. This way you won’t be left feeling uncomfortable for your special event.
How often should I be getting waxed?
This varies due to the hair growth rate of each person. Typically, if you are not shaving, tweezing or using any depilation crèmes in between waxes, 4-6 weeks is when you should be booking an appointment for. For brow and lip and most facial waxing, most clients find 3-4 weeks to be the best.
